Welcome to Col William Gordon's website. We are an independent highland company in the Scots Brigade of the Sealed Knot, the only one of its type anywhere. We fight pike, musket, sword and targe, have an excellent Living History contingent and a superb piper and drummers. We represent Col. William Gordon of Minimore's Regiment, which fought on the Royalist side during the Civil Wars in Scotland (1639-46). We are based all over the UK, our piper is based in Germany, and we have a few 'friends' in the USA. Basically we try and re-enact all things Scottish from the mid 17th century and have a load of fun doing it. We have put on battles all over the UK and Europe, and occasionally go further afield.
Our philosophy is simple: try and get it right and have a lot of fun along the way. If we don't get it right we are big enough to listen to good ideas and course correct as we go. As for fun, we are pretty good at that.
Col. William Gordon's Company of Foote is currently a small unit, with around 40 odd experienced members. The focus since we were formed has explicitly been quality ahead of quantity. Phase two, which we are about to commence, aims to create a much bigger and broader-based regular highland infantry unit, in a much shorter period of time, without sacrificing the quality ethos that has worked so well to date. And while this is a tough brief I am extremely confident that with an infusion of high quality talent (particularly some new pike veterans), we can create something very special indeed.
