Proofing Proofs will be supplied to you as Adobe Acrobat pdf files. Adobe Acrobat is available as a free download. It's one of the most commonly used 3rd party apllications if you are concerned about internet safety etc. Click the button below to go to Adobe's website. It is possible to annotate acrobat files sent to you as you would with hardcopy. It's actually preferable that you don't as it's tricky to copy and paste from. The most efficient method is to list changes in an email (or a Word doc if there is a lot) in the following format: page x, paragraph x, line x Page numbers in the document and the page number of the pdf may not tally. Please use the page number on the 'physical' page of the document for your annotations. Some things to note when proofing: Proofs are low quality to keep the file size down and this will cause some images to become distorted. Text gets pushed forwards and backwards when images and boxouts are inserted so don't worry too much about stray lines of text till the publication is close to completion. |
