"For Bonaparte the Egyptian adventure was over - but not for the army". These words concluded the campaign account in Volume 1 of the "French Campaign in Egypt". Volume 2 picks up the action after Bonaparte's departure with the French occupation, the defeat of the Turks and the subsequent British landings and successful campaign to expel the French from Egypt. The author provides a description of the unfolding campaign and detailed accounts of the battles. This volume complements Volume 1, which described the French army in detail, covering the British army, its orders of battle, its uniforms and those of the foreign troops in British service and the contingent from India. It describes the Turkish forces and those of Egypt including the colourful and exotic Mamelukes. All of these uniforms are described in detail and supported by more than 50 new colour illustrations by Bob Marrion.
This book provides an essential companion to Volume 1 and between the two they offer the reader an in depth study of the campaign, the battles, the armies and their uniforms.
